For the more adventurous, we offer an open ocean kayak run of 3/4 mile. Whales, dolphins, turtles, manta rays and large fish are common sightings.
Or, kayak inshore along Playa Carrillo. This palm studded 3 kilometer long beach is where one can almost always find calm enough waters to explore the tide pools, reef life, and amazing sites seen from the water.
Isla Chora: We leave from the sport fishing port of Carrillo, navigating out and around the barrier reef known to local surfers as "Popo's Point." It is an open ocean run of 3/4 mile. Whales, dolphins, turtles, manta rays and large fish are common sightings. We land on the white sand beach for lunch and snorkeling. A short paddle from Isla Chora to Samara Beach concludes our voyage. Duration: 4-5 hours. Includes Popo's guide, all equipment and lunch.
Chorotega Connection: Our most challenging day trip offers an exciting river mouth exit into the Pacific Ocean , only to round the point and practice beach landing before lunch. A quarter mile of waveless coastline lets us gear up for the two mile test. Two miles of aggressive coastline and currents reward you at the end in the placid bay of Carrillo. Duration: 4-6 hours. Includes Popo's guide, all equipment, and lunch.
