Phippsburg, Maine Cat Cove,West Point - Andrea Brand

Today's picture is one of my favorite paintings. It is a painting of dusk at Cat's Cove in the little fishing village of West Point in Phippsburg, Maine.  This was where I learned to swim when I was a little girl and where John Marin, the famous abstract artist, painted. I loved playing on this beach when I was young. I gave this to a friend of mine recently for a favor her husband did for us. I can't wait to see it hanging on her wall the next time I visit :)

It is just about as windy as it can be up here on the Coast of Maine today. It's days like this when I am grateful that all the lobster traps are ashore and the boat has been hauled up for the winter.  In fact it's just about time to be headed south for the winter.

Zack is anxious to get to Brookly and NYC and be with Anna again. She is doing very well in school and has an externship at a very ritzy restaurant's bakery. She loves the city. Zack seems to like the city, too, and has been down to visit several times since Anna moved in August. I'm hoping they both continue with their art, they are unbelieveably talented.

The guys are working on the boat, cleaning the bottom, putting anti-freeze in the motor, and whatever else needs doing. They'll probably love a hot cup of tea and some of that molasses cake I made yesterday with buttercream frosting that came out so good. More later.
